Here are some suggestions for what to do if CATS reports an error screen to you. An error screen in CATS will look like one of the three images below.

Operating Error
You may see a message box in the top right of the screen that includes 1 XXXX where XXXX is any number.

Message Box.

This may or may not be followed by an error box.

Then an error box will be displayed, where you can choose one of several ways to proceed.

Display or Report Error

Evaluation error in display or reporting.
Display errors will not stop the program, but may affect columns displayed in scans or on reports.
Errors of any other format are typically Windows or Network errors, not CATS errors.

Click the Ignore button or hit the I key on your keyboard to attempt to ignore the error. You can repeat this ignore process until the error stops occurring.

Do not attempt to ignore errors you receive when performing the Accounting Recalculation, Isolating a Period, or Closing a Year procedure unless instructed to do so by New Data Systems.

If the error persists and will not stop, select Cancel from the error box and stop the procedure. You can also hit the C key on the keyboard to cancel the procedure.

You can attempt to repeat the process you were doing before you got the error, but you will likely get this error again.

Call or email our office to report this error as soon as you get it. Give us as much detail as you can about what you were doing in CATS when you got the error, and what steps you took to get there.

If you are using the automatic issue monitoring feature, we may already have received an automated email with the error, but you should still notify us and give us as much information as possible about the issue.
